Editor's Notes
extract from letter copied into letter of Tate to Hammer, 25 Jan 1890 Dear Sir:- Referring to our letter to you under date 21st Dec. last, withwhich we enclosed certain correspondence from Messrs. Baldwin Bros. & Co., in regard to four casks of cylinders shipped from Paris to Mr. Edison, via S. S. La Gascogne," not having seen or heard anything of this shipment, we wrote to Messrs. Baldwin Bros & Co. a day or so ago, and the following is an extract from a letter which they sent us in reply:- "Mr. Hammer, your representative at the Paris Expotion (now in Newark, has all the papers in this matter and is informed about them. The customs will not allow us to swear to entry as the papers read in your name. Kindly communicates with Mr. Hammer, and oblige." Will you kindly inform me what you are doing about this matter, and much oblige.
