Feb. 25, 1890 Mr. Thomas Butler, 44 Wall Street, New York City Dear Sir:- I beg to acknowlede receipt of your letter of 24th instant, informing me that on that day you received from Mr. Chapman, check for $9,718.78, representing the proceeds of two notes of the Edison Phonograph Works, each dated Feb. 21st, at four mos., for $5,005 and payable to the order of Thomas A, Edison at the [illegible] National Bank, New York, and that you have deposited said check in the Third Nat'l Bank to the credit of the Edison Phonograph Works.
