March 5, 1890 .F. Howell, Esq., 58 & 60 Broadway, Room 211, New York City Dear Sir:- I beg to call your attention to my letter to you under date Feb. 17th last, in which I said: "I sketch of Mr. Edison's life that I sent you was written from notes which I took from Mr. Edison, who afterwards read and approved it. I have no objection to your referring to this fact, but do not wish the article published as a contribution from Mr. Edison." I have received a copy of your issue under date Feb. 28th, and observe that you have published the article in question as the "Autobiography of Thomas Alva Edison." This is a misstatement, which will doubtless be corrected in your next issue. I shall be glad to have your assurance to that effect. Yours truly, A.O. Tate Private Secretary
