March 11, 1890 Major S.B Eaton, No. 120 Broadway, New York City Dear Sir:- I beg to acknowledge receipt of your esteemed letter of 9th instant, in which you state that Col Gouraud will forward me a check for about $4,000 to apply on his open account for phonographs and supplies. In order to avoid as possible delay in checking these accounts, I sent to London on Saturday last a complete duplicate set of bills covering all shipments which comprise Col. Gouraud's outstanding account, and I attached to the invoice for each shipment a duplicate express receipt for same, together with copies of advices of shipment which were sent at the time the goods were forwarded. The letter went to Col. Gouraud's London office, with the request that the bills be checked immediately. Yours very truly, Thos. A. Edison
