Personal.
My dear Major Eaton,-
With a formal letter I have sent you Balance Sheets of the Edison Phonograph Works, under date January 31st, 1890, and an explanation referred to therein. I would like to call your attention to my explanation of the debit of $5,227.99 shown in Balance Sheet No. 1 against Mr. Edison and a credit of $25,000, loan, on same sheet. You will find these two explanations in the document which accompanies Balance Nos, 1 & 2. I call your attention to these, for the reason they will show Mr. Edison pays cash for the supplies sent to Gouraud.
I received yesterday your letter enclosing copy of communication which Gouraud read to the Directors of the United Phonograph Company. I am preparing a reply which I will send in to you the first thing Monday morning. This will be complete and will embody all Gouraud's original orders for the Material which we have billed against him it cannot get around these.
A.O. Tate
Yours very truly,
