March 28th 1890 Samuel Insull, Esq., No. 44 Wall Street, New York City Dear Sir:- In reply to your letter under date of 27th instant, in regard to the mortgage upon the Phonograph Works shops, I beg to say that this is held by Mr. H.B. Auchincloss, Llewellyn Park, Orange, New Jersey. The amount is $10,000, rate of interest is six percent, payable half-yearly. The next payment is due 12th of May, 1890. The mortgage was made for five years. I have spoken to Mr. Auchincloss about canceling this mortgage, and he agreed to cancel it at any time that we may desire. He is not in town himself, but he has left all the papers with his Attorney, Mr. Kingsley, and any time that we are ready to pa over the principal, the mortgage will be cancelled by Mr. Auchincloss' representative. Yours very truly, A.O. Tate Private Secretary
