April 3, 90 Harkness Fire Extinguish Co Gentlemen: That position of your bill for extra hands reads as follows: basement, 30: library 24; carpenter shop 13; Total 67. In making cost of $1 per head your total as made by Mr. Harkness is 64. We find that under carpenter ship there are but 12 heads, under library but 18. If the system in present state is acceptable to the N.J. Board of fire underwriters, we of course look for credit for seven more heads. We find nothing from Mr. Wood showing that the system is acceptable of the N.Y. board of fire underwriters. The lid f the tank in carpenter shop does not fit the tank on which it uses, thus allowing some amount to enter the tank. Please see that we receive official notice from the proper parties that the system is acceptable to the N.J board of fire underwriters, and also have bank repaired, system completed or credit given us for the missing heds. Yours truly, Edison Laboratory
