April 4, 1890 Major S.B. Eaton, # 120 Broadway, New York City My dear Sir,- Your letter of 1st instant, with enclosures, addressed to Mr. Edison in regard to Lalande Battery License, has been duly received. With reference to the agreement between Mr. Edison, Lalande and Chaperon which you have prepared, touching the acquirement by Mr. Edison of the right to manufacture and sell Lalande batteries for use in connection with electric lighting, please alter the clause providing for the rendering of written statements and the payment of royalties, contained in the 4th section, so that those fulfilled under the agreement between the same parties dated August 24th, 1889. The agreement last mentioned provides for the rendering of statements semi-annually from the date of same, and for the payment of amounts due within thirty days after the rendering of such statements. With the above alteration, the draft agreement which I return herewith, will be all right. We desire that the payments under the Lalande agreements shall become due at the same time. Yours truly, A.O. Tate Private Secretary
