April 23rd 1890 Messrs Eaton and Lewis 120 Broadway N.Y. Dear Sirs:- There was a draft drawn on Mr. Edison through the Orange National Bank for $2796.17/100 by Mr. Albert Hartsuff with a lot of papers attached to it regarding a Bond and Mortgage which Mr. Edison agreed to take up for his brother and Mr. Edison refused to pay same until you had looked over the papers to see if it was all right and after going to the bank and consulting Mr. Samuel Insull. I returned the draft which will be at the American Exchange National Bank New York in a day or so and Mr. Edison would like to have you look over the papers + c and if they are all right he wants to pay for it. I notified your Mr. Simpson in regard to the above over the telephone this afternoon. Very truly, John F. Randolph
