April 25, 1890 The Edison Machine Works, Schenectady, N.Y. OXIDIZING IRON WIRE This was an experiment upon a process of oxidizing iron wire for use in dynamos, the results of which were communicated to the Machine Works. MAGNETIC BRIDGE APPARATUS MADE TO MEASURE THE PERMEABILITY OF IRON EXPRESSIONS ON MAINS. Cost of experiments on mains conducted by Mr. Edison upon underground system of conductors. GROUND DETECTOR. An apparatus devised for the rapid location of grounds in underground conductors. We have used this instrument continually in locating grounds on our own local system here. FIRE-PROOF WOOD. Experiment conducted by Mr. Edison to render wood fire-proof. CARRYING POWER OF CONDUCTORS. This experiment embodies a series of measurement of the carrying power of conductors. The measurements were made on the order of the Edison Gen'l Electric Co., and the results were reported to them at the Niagara Falls Convention, and subsequently published. ALTERATION IN SPRAGUE MOTOR. This covers the cost of experiments upon the revision of the construction of the Sprague Motor which is applicable also to general dynamo construction. ARC LIGHT EXPERIMENT. This was an experiment made for the purpose of improving arc lights. TINNING & STRADING WIRE. This experiment was conducted under orders from Mr. Insull, and report upon the same was sent to Schenectady SPRAGUE MOTOR EXPERIMENT. This is a further expense connected with Mr. Edison work upon the Sprague Motor MAGNETIC PENDULUM A long series of measurements taken by Mr. Edison to ascertain the exact relations between the distance between the poles of a magnet and the work the magnet could do. A full report was made to Mr. Edison, and all the data, curves &c are in his hands. CONVERTER EXPERIMENT Experiment conducted by Mr. Edison on a Converter
