Mr. C.E. Speirs,
D. Van Nostrand Company,
#23 Murray St., New York
My dear Sir:-
Mr. Edison did not have an opportunity to look over Mr. Latimer's Mss. Our Mr. Kennelly, however, examined it, and found that it contained so many errors that to correct them would mean, practically, to rewrite the entire book. Inasmuch as you intend this volume for publication in your Science Series, it would seem essential that the matter should be accurate and the data reliable. These requirements are not met by Mr. Latimer's Mss. I return the latter herewith, and the volume which accompanied it goes forward by this mail under separate cover.
Yours very truly,
A.O. Tate
