January 24, 1891. Major S. E. Eaton, #120 Broadway, New York City. Dear Sir:- In regard to the Phonograph Experimental accounts: There is charged against the North American Phonography Company sixty-three thousand dollars odd for experiments, dating from the time when the phonograph was purchased by Mr. Lippincott. Prior to that period that Edison Phonograph Company was liable for the cost of experimentation our books there is a charge against that corporation of some $26,000. In arranging for security this twenty-six thousand dollars will have to be taken care of in some way. I bring the matter to your attention, as the matter will not appear on Mr. Lippincott’s books, the same not having been charged against the North Am. Phonograph Co. Yours very truly, Th A Edison
