February 10, 1891.
Henry B. Auchincloss, Esq.,
Llewellyn Park, N.J.
Dear Sir:-
Referring to the bill sent to you for electric lighting for January, we beg to say that this is absolutely correct. We believe that during December your meter was reversed and a bill for an insufficient amount of current was rendered you, but as the quantity of loss was unknown we stood by the meter record. There is no error in last month’s bill. This electric lighting has been a very unprofitable enterprise for the Laboratory, and we would very gladly discontinue it.
Yours very truly,
A. O. Tate
Private Secretary.
