March 16,1891. Major S.B. Eaton, #120 Broadway, New York City. Dear Sir:- Mr. Edison has read your letter of 13th instant, re Assignment of Edison English Electric Light patents to the Edison and Swan United Electric Light Co., Limited, and in reply he has instructed me to say that we had better wait until Mr. Insull gets well before taking my any action in this matter; that the Edison & Swan Co. has for years failed to carry out its agreement with him; and that the cost of obtaining the patents in question was several times greater than the money sent. Mr. Edison says further that of course he wants to get everything that he is entitled to under the contract; that the Edison & Swan Co. now finds that some of the patents are valuable, and at this late day, after refusing to pay for the patents, they come in and want to secure them. Mr. Edison not only wants all the money which the patents cost him, but 100 per cent additional, besides the interest on the money. He does not know what settlement Mr. Insull made with the Company in regard to the Jumbo Dynamos. I return herewith all the documents which accompanied your letter, and which are as follows: [1] Copy of letter or Major Page to Mr. Edison, dated may 30th, 1887 [2] Copy Letter of Mr. Insull to Major Page, dated August 25th 1890.
