April 14, 1891.
Mr. E.C. Felton,
Sup’l., Pennsylvania Steel Company,
Steelton, PA.
Dear Sir:-
In reply to your letter of 13th instant, I beg to say that the 100 tons of ore will be shipped from the mill to-day.
I do not understand your analysis. The iron seems to be top low by one unit, and the phosphorus is far too low according to the analysis of Gifford in New York. However, when you receive the 100 tons you can take a general sample. In sampling remember that the larger particles by the jolting of the cars will come to the top, and as these are the ones that contain the silica it will be better to sample the material after it has been dumped from the cars.
Yours very truly,
(Signed Thos. A. Edison)
