April 16, 1891.
Samuel Insull, Esq.,
P.O. Box 3067,
New York City.
Dear Sir:-
Our experimental bills for this year are all held back pending a settlement respecting the basis upon which we should bill experiments for the Edison General Electric Company. As I understand it you have already agreed with Mr. Edison that these costs shall be made up as follows: Labor, Material, General Expense, the last including ordinary general expense, appliances in use, taxes, insurance, and small tools. Nothing is to be allowed for depreciation.
I wish you would kindly confirm this at once, so that we can make our books up properly. When works get so far behind it takes almost a couple of months to catch up.
Yours very truly,
(Signed Alfred Tate)
Private Secretary.
