July 5, 91 Dear Mrs. Edison,- The attached note was handed to me in Mr. Insull's office in New York. It appears that this man Heepe is not known of to any of our people. I went to the District Attorney's office several days ago to obtain a permit to see Heepe in the Tombs, but the Warden of the prison had temporarily ceased issuing passes, and I could not get in. Mr. Weeks, one of the Assistant District Attorneys, and you will remember crossed with us on "La Champagne." said that he would obtain a permit for me during the course of a few days and send it to me. Upon receipt of this I will visit Heepe and find out all I can about him and communicate with you further. From what I learn of the case, I do not think there is much hope for him. The matter was premeditated and absolutely without any justification. Yours truly, A.O. Tate
