My dear Mr. Krupp,-
Absence from home prevented my acknowledging earlier the receipt of your very kind letter under date 6th of April last, in regard to beautiful writing table implements you were good enough to send me, and which reached my hands safely and in perfect condition. I accept this gift with a great deal of pleasure, and your kindness in presenting it to me is very highly appreciated. Your idea in having the various articles included in the set consist of miniature guns, projectiles etc., thereby associating them with yourself, was a most happy one indeed, and the result could not be more felicitous than it is. The design of the articles is certainly appropriate, original and unique, and they constitute a most interesting and valuable souvenir. I have had the ink-stand and accessories placed in my "den" at home, where they are much admired by all who see them, the general verdict being that such an apparatus could have proceeded from no one but Krupp.
Rest assured, my dear Mr. Krupp, that I will derive much satisfaction in making use of your beautiful present, for which I beg you to accept my sincere thanks.
Yours very truly,
(signed) Thomas A. Edison
