July 25, 1891.
J.H. Block. Esq.,
Moscow, Russia.
Dear Sir:-
I beg to acknowledge the receipt letter under date 22nd of June. Mr. Edison has also received your letter to him of same date, in regard to phonograph matters in Russia, and at his request I am forwarding the correspondence to Mr. Jesse Seligan, of the Edison United Phonograph Company, New York, which Company, as you know, controls the phonograph in Europe. Mr. Edison has previously directed the attention of the Company mentioned to the way in which the Phonograph being worked in Russia, and strongly urged upon them the necessity of at once taking stops to correct the abuses of which you complain. Inasmuch as the United Company has complete jurisdiction over the phonograph business in Europe. Mr. Edison is unable to take any action in the matter without that Company’s co-operation. I trust that they will recognize the importance of taking prompt action in the premises.
Yours very truly,
A.O. Tate
Private Secretary.
