19 August 1891 Thos A. Edison Esq., Ogdensburg. N.J. Dear Mr. Edison I enclose herewith deep of the Edison Phonograph works to the inhabitants of the township of West Orange. It appears that the Township Authorities never received from any of the owners of the Phonograph Works property is [illegible] of the land which is covered by Watchung Ave. They appear to grade this avenue and put it in first class condition will give them this formal transfer. I have had Major Eaton go in to the matter and he says there is no objection whatsoever to doing this, The street has been open for so long that we cannot close it, and we would not want to close it if we could. I wish you would kindly execute this deed and send it back to me. I will have Major Eaton prepare a form of resolution which will be passed at the next meeting of the Board of Directors of the Edison Phonograph Works. It is designed to confirm the act of the Officers of the Company in executing this transfer Yours very truly
