Edison Manufacturing Company,

Dear Sir:-
I beg to acknowledge receipt of Trial Balances October 1st. I would like to have a trial balance for each of the two Departments, Battery and Wax; it takes up too much time to obtain an intelligent idea from a mixed sheet. Referring to Thomas A. Edison’s credit of Eighty five thousand dollars odd some of this applies to the wax Building. When Mr. Edison sees a balance sheet of this kind he considers the whole of it as referring to the Battery business because the Wax business is stationary and will be for a good many months. Please send me at once the separate sheets and also send copies of them to Mr. Maguire at the Laboratory
Yours truly,
A.O. Tate
