George S Hart Esq., President,
Second Avenue Railroad Company,
Second Avenue & Ninety Sixth Street, New York.
Dear Sir:-
I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your esteemed favor of the 7th instant in regard to my new system for applying electricity to street railways. I note your remarks relative to the possibility of your Company affording me an opportunity to test the same on your road, and I appreciate them very much. The system in question was, however, devised by me for the Edison General Electric Company, whose address is the Edison Building, Broad Street, New York, and such an arrangement as you suggest would require to be made with them. Personally, I am in favor of putting the invention in practical operation in New York City or Jersey City.
Yours very truly,
Thomas A. Edison
