Dear Sirs:-
I have confirmed elsewhere a cablegram sent you to-day to the effect that the Edison General Electric Company have been approached with reference to the installation by them of large Central Station Plants in England. The people who have made these overtures are themselves financially strong, and are able to command support of this character to an extent that convinces me of their ability to carry out any agreement into which they may enter
The opportunity thus afforded presents itself to me as a most desirable one of which to take advantage, and I have introduced the subject to you in the belief that in respect to your views and mine will coincide. Of course the basis of any such arrangement would involve the recognition of any other controlling patents are owned or operated by you covering the apparatus deployed; again recognition would naturally take the form of a royalty payment to your Company. I am satisfied that this is an opportunity to make ours the installation of a large number of Edison Central Stations in Great Britain; the advantages of which as furnishing a market for Edison Lamps and other supplies, I need not bring particularly to your attention.
I trust that some amicable and equitable arrangement can be made which will enable us to avail ourselves of the capital which is seeking investment in our business, and if you view the matter favorably we can proceed at once to adjust the various details.
Yours very truly,
Thos A. Edison
