Oct 20th, 1893 Manning Freeman Esq Metuchen New Jersey Dear Sir:- The tax assessment on my property at Menlo Park as per the two enclosed tax bills is $8200.00/100 and is the same now that it was ten years ago when it was in active operation and I think that it is far in excess of its value and I think that it is far in excess of its value and I think that it should be reduced to about $3500.00/100 and I doubt very much if $3500.00 could be realized for same if I tried to sell it as the Building around the place are of very little value and would cost more to repair them than to build new ones. If you can do anything with the Commissioner of Appeals to effect a reduction it will be very much appreciated by Yours truly Thos A. Edison
