January 5th, 1892.
Messrs. Dyer & Seely,
36 Wall St.,
New York City.
Dear Sirs:-
I return herewith the drawings which accompanied your letter of 30th ultimo addressed to Mr. Edison with relation to [illegible text] case #931, in which the reciprocating crushing roller 5 is described as being longer than the roller 4. Mr. Edison notes that the patents cited by the commissioner show it to be old to reciprocate one or both of the rollers in mechanism for crushing or grinders for the purpose of preventing the rollers becoming worn in circumferential grooves, and that you will therefore be obliged to restrict the claims to minor features of construction. In reply, Mr. Edison says for you to do the best you can with this case and to claim all the other details.
Yours very truly,
A. O. Tate
