Jan. 22, 1892. Mr. O. J. Conley, N. J. & Penn’a. Concentrating Works Ogdensburgh, N. J. Dear Sir:- Mr. Edison has made the following pencil memorandum in reply to your letter of 20th instant: “Look in Boston Belting Co’s catalogue for directions to mix paint. The amount of Japan varnish required you will have to get by experiment. You might mix three or four lots of ten pounds each with different amounts of Japan; then paint 4 or 5 streaks on one belt with the different qualities and see the effect of service. Order from Sargent Card Clothing Co. a duplicate of last order; You have it recorded on order book. Edison.” Yours truly, A. O. Tate Private Secretary, M.
