Dear Sir:-
I have your letter of 20th instant, in regard to the Ferro Hill mines. Concentrating ore down as low as 20% will not permit of the payment of royalties such as are mentioned by you; and concentrating narrow streaks of 35 to 40% wouldn’t pay if no royalty was asked at all. There must considerable width, permitting open cutting to make it pay. At your rate the royalty would be equal to two or three dollars per ton in the vein proper.
Yours very truly,
Thomas A. Edison
