B. Jan. 28th, 1892. Thomas G. Liebenan, Esq., Grant Ave. near 162nd St., New York City. Dear Sir:- Mr. Edison duly received your letter of 17th instant informing him of a method for relieving deafness. Mr. Edison says, however, that in his case the remedy which you propose would not be practicable. His ears are all right but unfortunately both drums are perforated. Some time ago he tried an experiment with spirits of turpentine and some of the liquid penetrated the drum of his ear, the result being that it nearly killed him. He appreciates highly your kindness in sending him your recipe and he has asked me to thank you for the same. Yours very truly, A. O. Tate Private Secretary, M.
