March 14, 1892.
Major S. B. Eaton,
Edison Building,
Broad Street,
New York City.
Dear Sir:-
Your letter of 12th instant to Mr. Edison, informing him that Hornig has been brought on from St. Louis to prove that the rubber spring now found on the old motor at Menlo Park was really there in 1880, has been duly received. Mr. Edison says that it would be useless to call upon him to testify in this matter, as his testimony would do no good. He does not remember anything about the spring in question, and if called upon would testify to that effect.
Yours very truly,
A. O. Tate
Private Sec’y.
