April 25, 1892, Messrs. Seligman & Seligman, Mills Building, New York City. Dear Sirs:- I return herewith the power of attorney for Portugal which you sent for my signature with your letter to me of 11th instant. I have had this paper translated and find that it does not purport to be a power of attorney from me, but only from Col. Gouraud, who has executed the same; also that the document is entirely in blank as to its important parts, that is to say, it grants a power to anybody to sell anything at any price. I will not sign a power like this. It must be made specific before it will receive my signature. Yours truly, [Thomas A. Edison?]
