Mr. Edison,-
RE APPLICATIONS ON DUPLICATING PHONOGRAMS:
Referring to your note addressed to Mr. Dyer, reading
"Why acknowledge that it has been patented in England? Why not say a part has been patented in England? The statement that it has been patented in England is untrue. Want these to soak,”
Which was received from you this morning and which has been duly mailed to Mr. Dyer, I beg to point out that the affidavits which you signed read as follows:
“T.A.E. being duly sworn, deposes and says that the invention set forth in the above entitled application was IN PART patented to him in England by Letters Patents No. 1664 of April 24, 1878, and that so far he is able to state he has obtained no other patents for said invention.”
Therefore the questions contained in your note to Mr. Dyer would seem to have been based on misapprehension, since the affidavits appear to be drawn in exactly the form that you desire.
