February 11, 1893.
Francis Jehl, Esq.,
Am Kiosk 9, Brunn, Germany.
Dear Sir:-
Mr. Edison received your letter of 4th ultimo, asking information in regard to price etc. of a Phonograph for Prof. Hofler, of Vienna, and by his direction I referred the same to the New York office of the Edison United Phonograph Company, recommending that an instrument be supplied to Prof. Hofler. I enclose herewith copy of a reply which I have received from Mr. Jesse Seligman, of the United Company, in which he suggests that the matter be allowed to rest for the present but intimating that later on an instrument can be obtained by the Professor under certain conditions. The Edison United Phonograph Company controls the phonograph in Europe, and an instrument for use there would require have to be obtained through that Company.
Yours very truly,
A.O. Tate
