July 19, 1893. John Van Clef, Esq., Secretary, State Board of Assessors, Trenton, N. J. Dear Sir:-- With reference to the enclosed report in regard to the Edison Industrial Works, I beg to inform you that the Company never had any existence except on paper. The Company was incorporated with the intention of conducting a manufacturing business, but the idea was subsequently abandoned and nothing further was done in the matter. No stock was ever issued, nor any [illegible] subscribed, and no officers were appointed. Yours very truly, Thos A Edison
