Sept. 26, 1893. My dear Mr. Edison,- Shortly before I went to Chicago I received a memorandum from you in regard to arranging at the Phonograph Works to turn out only what was actually needed for the Manufacturing Company. I sent immediately for Gladstone and told him to go to the Works and arrange that all orders for the Manufacturing Company should be put through only as actually required, and I instructed him further to keep a very careful watch over this work so that no time should be expended on stock orders. He reported to me that he had given the matter attention. I am writing him again to-day on the subject so as to keep it agitated. Yours truly, A.O. Tate Thomas A. Edison, Esq., Orange, N. J.
