May 3rd. 1894.
Richard Townley Haines, Esq.,
C-o The North American Phonograph Co.,
32 Park Place, New York:
Dear Mr. Haines:-
I duly received your letter of the 21st. inst., which has remained unanswered due to my almost continual absence from the Laboratory. I do not see how it is possible to have you elected as a Member of the Board of Directors of the North American Phonograph Co. at this time, as all arrangements rendered necessary by the resignation of Mr. Tate had already been agreed upon prior to the receipt of your communication.
Yours very truly,
Thos A Edison
