May 21st. 1894.
Messrs. Drexel, Morgan & Co.,
23 Wall Street, New York.
Gentlemen:-
I am in receipt of your letter of the 18th. inst., confirming telegram of same date, advising that Colonel Gouraud has deposited $10,000. to my credit. Is it clearly understood that this amount cannot be withdrawn by Colonel Gouraud and that it is held by you to be paid for machines now in process of construction?. As I am away from the laboratory nearly all of the time, I have instructed Mr. W. E. Gilmore to call upon you in regard to this matter.
Yours very truly,
Thomas A. Edison
