June 29, 1894. Col. Geo. E. Gouraud, Edison Building, Broad st., N. Y., Dear sir:- I presume that you will remember the meeting where [illegible] sold the English Co. my inventions forever, whereas, the Company only gets them for a few years longer, i.e., March 11, [1898?]. You objected to the Board ratifying this Contract, and I declined to vote or take any part in the transaction. I wonder when the time comes, if I should make a very important improvement and patent same, after the expiration of my contract, and the Englishmen should ask for delivery, would not the Directors be, personally, liable? In looking through my papers, I fail to find a copy of the Contract with the Edison United Phonograph Co. Can you furnish me a copy of same? Yours very truly, Thomas A. Edison
