Messrs. Dyer & Seely,
#36 Wall st., N. Y.,
Dear sirs: -
We are anxious to have a roll made suitable for making name plates to take the place of the plate used by the North American Phonograph Co., a sample of their plate being enclosed herewith. It is intended to substitute the name of “Edison Phonograph Co.” for “North American Phonograph Co.”, and Mr. Edison has selected the following patents to be shown on these plates. In selecting these patents Mr. Edison has mentioned any patent having a claim directly connected with his Phonograph, but before we proceed to have the [illegible text] roll made up, we would like to know from you whether there are any changes or instructions that you consider it necessary to follow. I have mentioned the patent numbers and the date of issuance, but as this would most likely make a bulky plate, I should very much like to know whether the use of the patent numbers would not be sufficient, or whether you would suggest using the dates. Of course, it is not intended to put any of these plates into use until after the Receiver has wound up the affairs of the North American Phonograph Co., but as it takes considerable time to get out this roll, we desire to have the work taken in hand in good time.
[List of patents and dates]
Yours very truly,
W. E. Gilmore
