Thomas J McConnell Esq
Menlo Park
N.J.
Dear Sir:-
From this day until you receive written notice from me to the contrary I give you the entire charge of all my Buildings and lands at Menlo Park and donot wish you to allow any one to take anything from the place belonging to me without you receive a written order from me. I have notified Mrs Larson this day by letter that I have given you entire charge of the place, and I have also notified Mr John V. TenEyck that you have entire charge of all the lands and buildings excepting the land which he has planted.
Mr Randolph who was at Menlo Park today saw the party who lives in the Brick Office and told them to call and see you as you had entire charge of the place. This party is willing to pay you four dollars a month if you will allow them to remain in the house or office, as they have a garden planted. If you donot wish to have them remain after they gather their crops you can suit yourself but the people should be allowed to gather their crops when the time comes as I donot want them to have their labor for nothing.
If at any time you want to rent the office to some one to live in you have my permission to do so and any rent you receive you can keep for yourself for the trouble of looking after the lands and buildings but I would like you to arrange with the party who rents the building that they must get out two weeks after I send you notice in writing that I want the place.
The house which you live in I donot include as it belongs to my daughter. Please let me know if this is satisfactory.
Yours truly
Thos A. Edison
