July 1st, 1895. John Trowbridge, Esq., Chairman Rumford Committee, Cambridge, Mass., My dear sir:- I have pleasure in acknowledging receipt of your letter of June 25th, informing me that the American Academy of Arts and Sciences have conferred upon me the Rumford medals, which honor is very much appreciated. Am I to under stand from your letter that it will be necessary for me to go on to Cambridge at the presentation, in Autumn? My entire time is now consumed at my Iron Ore plant, at Edison, N. J., and I have something like three hundred men working day and night, to get the plant in commercial shape. It will be some time before I could leave this particular line of work, and I would therefore very much prefer to have the medals sent on to me, if it could be so arranged. With best wishes, believe me, Yours very truly,
