July 9, 1895. Edison United Phonograph Co., G. N. Morrison Esq., Sec’y. Mills Bldg., N. Y. Dear Sir :- I have your letter of the 1st. Mr. Gilmore tells me that the reason the Works have not written you regarding the machine that was returned as imperfect, has been due to the fact that we desired to have it very carefully looked into. This has been done and he will write you within a day or two fully. I understand from Mr. Gilmore that your Mr. Moriarty was here last week and looked over this machine, and fully understands the situation. Regarding the interchangeability of the parts I would say that they are as near interchangeable as the tools we have will permit us to get them. Of course all so called interchangeable parts of any machine or other apparatus have to be adjusted in place. Yours very truly, T. A Edison R[andolph]
