Dear Sir
Samples of gravel received and tested. The amount of gold per cubic yard will not exceed four cents, probably two cents would not be exceeded. It is not river gravel, we find a few globules of mercury in the sand free from gold. It looks as if the sample was taken from a poor part. If you think best you could have your man try different holes by panning & when he found good prospects by panning make a new sample – as the last.
I am very unfavorably impressed with the character of the sand.
