Walter Cutting Esq
Pittsfield, Mass.
My Dear Cutting:
In reply to your favor I beg to state that my recollection as well as my bookkeeper Mr. Randolph who took the stock over and were present at the interview was the same as I have stated in my letter. N strictly legal grounds I could hold that it was a trade but I don’t want any friction in the matter as I made you the offer of the four bonds which I think the Estate should accept. You should remember also that the Estate has my great interest in the Ogden Mills and I have been left to bear the whole burden and will have to do so in the future and I think the Estate should treat things in a liberal manner.
Yours truly
