- Editor's Notes
- [11 pages; would be a great selection if not so long, including evaluation of Insull's job with TAE, but consider it. Covers a lot of ground.] Just wrote you in TAE's name about a candlepower indicator. Took Fabbri to Goerck St, where "old man" was pleased to see him and made a "clean breast of the engine trouble with the new machine." Fabbri absolved TAE of responsibility & told him to go ahead with another engine. I think Fabbri's experience in England has opened his eyes to the vastness of the business and the troubles to be overcome. Fabbri saw new locomotive, now being completed and showed such "red hot interest" that I had to disuade him from ordering a plant til TAE has successfully run MP elect rwy. Fabbri suggested giving you same interest in Colonial light as you have in English light; "as you may imagine the old man said nothing would please him better." "TAE's main objection to the English agreement is that clause about certification by Thompson & Bramwell of ability to compete with gas;" thinks it's perilous no matter how that would turn out. Surprised that A. White endorsed as Secy. Bergmann & Co getting more orders, business looks better. Nothing more to say about Parent Cos new stock issue; you'll have to pay for yours. Need your advice: I've been working night and day, and fear break down in health if it continues this year as in the one just past. "He has millions at stake in working so hard, I have nothing. What shall I do? I will be guided entirely by you in the matter & do as you think best." When came to US expected to be living in country for next to nothing but my expenses are high. PS [illeg]
