Editor's Notes
The phone sounders you made have "proved entirely useless in connection with our [phonoplex] system and we have been obliged to abandon them wherever phone relays are employed, and to substitute a regular phone....The chief source of weakness in the small sounder has been the weakness of the magnet which does not develop sufficient strength to produce sounds lioud enough to read without an excessive quantity of battery." "Mr. [Kellen?] has suggested a method of treating these magnets so as to harden and strengthen them..." let him try to do it at your place.
