- ####[page 195]####15th May 89####W.J. Jenks Esq. Director####Standardizing Bureau####Dear Sir####We are just about to complete a pattern of the new zinc for casting experimentally in sand.####I have written to Messrs Bergmann & Co sending a sample of our cut zinc meter sizes, according to your letter of yesterday's date####With reference to your communication of the 13th inst. I had certainly intended writing to you at a later date asking the permission of the bureau to publish the determination of the specific ---- of zinc sulphate solution contained in the meter report. This is a matter of some scientific value apart from the service it has rendered us in the meter question because the only published values are by [Kohlraugh?] on the one hand and by Ewing and macGregor on the other The values they respectively give differ by more than 30% beside giving no temperature variation.####The paper I proposed to draw up was therefore intended to be a scientific one, as the matter has comparatively little practical value ouside Edison meter work, but has a fair scientific value for laboratory work, and recorded data.####I hardly know therefore whether the paper is one you####[page 196]####would care to publish in the journal under your --itorship, as it can hardly be made interestin to practical men. However I presume that I have your sanction to draw it up and I will send it to you when I shall have had leisure to prepare it. If you do not care to accept it we can then give it another destination.####Yours very truly####A.E. Kennelly####
