March 2, 1900. The Edison Portland Cement Co., Girard Building, Phila., Pa. Dear Sirs:-- Replying to yours of the 1st, relative to the account of $943.39 owing you by this company, beg to state, we have as an offset against this a considerable quantity of drilled steel, picks, axes, etc., etc., which we sent in the early part of the exploration work to Stewartsville, and other places; also here at Orange, and a considerable quantity of shafting, pulleys, belts, etc used in the work here, for which we have not charged your company, waiting until the work was finished, and then we propose to render a bill for the difference between what has been delivered and what will be returned, which will about effect the charge you have against us. However, if you prefer it, we will settle the account you have against us and render bills at once for the material supplied your company, for which you pay us, and then what goods are returned, we can give you credit at the time they are sent back. Yours very truly, W.S. Mallory
