Mr. W.A.L. Laughton
416 Walnut Street,
Phila, Pa
Dear Sir:--
Yours of the 10th inst relative to accidents5667 and 8685 has been forwarded from our Edison office, and in reply, we beg to state that we have never in the past made any payments to our men when they have been hurt, other than to pay doctor bills and a portion of their wages, and we think it would be establishing a bad precedent for us to start at this time; at the sametime, we do not want to prevent you from obtaining the releases, if you think it is necessary to have time, and so beg to suggest that you take the matter up direct with the men.
We are afraid that if we ask for the releases it may make us a great deal of trouble in the future, and in many cases we will be compelled to pay to avoid trouble.
Yours very truly,
W.S. Mallory V.P.
