Mr. W.S. Pilling, Treasurer,
Edison Portland Cement Co.,
Philadelphia, Pa.
Dear Sir:--
In talking with Mr. Edison today about the construct with the Pennsylvania Steel Company, for the erection of buildings, I made the statement that my understanding of the contract is that the material is to be billed to this Company at a fixed price per lb., and the 15% is to be added to the actual cost of labor, including, of course, all proper proportion of the general expense of operating the shop, freights, erection costs, etc., and that 15% is not added to the price of material. Please advise whether this is your understanding of the matter also.
Mr. Edison is also very anxious to see the contract before the matter is finally closed, and as soon as it is received, trust that you will forward a copy of it to us promptly.
Yours very truly,
W.S. Mallory
