- Editor's Notes
- Have succeeded in putting all our men (names 5) on payroll of different Cos. as of 15 Nov. Pls continue to pay Force's wife $12/week as before & I'll refund the same. "You no doubt think we are a long time getting started in manufacturing but it hasbeen very difficult indeed to find the right place. I have been in no less than 53 mills and factories within 100 miles of Paris. Thought of splitting work among several shops but now have chance at building, drawing of which enclosed. Can't afford to buy but may be able to rent. Located just outside Paris walls. Prospective board has met twice, will meet nightly for business. Porges is "very peculiar man" but I can get anything I want from him by making believe it's his idea, after "having an amicable row with him." Tried to secure position in German Co for Moses. Porges had been supportive of Moses but "has been literally talked to death by him" and now doesn't want to bother. Bailey also doesn't want to work with Moses. Moses wants exclusive agency fro Germany and 2% interest in everything. Am having made lots of lamp factory stuff so as to be ready. Tell Kruesi to get & train a Frenchman and I'll take him, but not a high salary man.
